What do you think is one of the biggest flaws in the American education system?

“I believe that while the American education system is doing an okay job right now, the way teachers are treated and how they’re paid degrades our education. There are a lot of great possible teachers in our society, but the way they’re treated and the payment they receive doesn’t justify the work they put in to their students. It’s easy to tell when there’s a good teacher who loves what they’re doing and loves their students, and then others are just there because they needed a job. If we pay teachers more, it’ll attract more teachers and draw in more quality teachers, which in turn improves the quality of our education. We’d attract more teachers that are better suited for what they’re doing more so than teachers who just show up because they need the job. I think we need to pay teachers [more]. There are definitely certain teachers that I know put so much effort and time into their students, and I think they deserve more.”
